Is online EMDR therapy as effective as in-person sessions?

For many clients, online EMDR is as effective as in-person work. Research and clinical experience show that the core elements of EMDR, including bilateral stimulation and focused processing, translate well to video sessions. Being in a familiar environment can also help people feel safer and more relaxed. The key to effectiveness is working with a trained therapist who can guide pacing, ensure grounding, and adapt the method for remote delivery. With proper preparation and privacy, online EMDR can produce outcomes comparable to traditional face-to-face sessions.
